Tech giants as well as many startups have once again been forced to make job cuts in 2023. According to Layoffs.fyi, the total number of tech layoffs so far this year is 168,243, surpassing the total number of layoffs for 2022.
While the layoffs are largely attributed to the macroeconomic environment and a need to find discipline on the road to profitability, their impact on innovation, the pressures being faced by companies, and the human cost of layoffs must also be considered.
