ChatGPT is going to the next level with the new update. OpenAI’s ChatGPT has unveiled a major update, which includes the ability to connect to the internet. Additionally, the latest version of GPT-4 now incorporates more than 70 third-party browser plugins, among other features. Currently, these enhancements are exclusively available to ChatGPT Plus subscribers, who pay $20 per month.
The new update gives the platform a chance to generate more updated information and dramatically increases the accuracy level of the responses produced. For now, ChatGPT is trained to use information available up to the year 2021 and the new update is going to provide the users with the latest information.
“We’re rolling out web browsing and Plugins to all ChatGPT Plus users over the next week! Moving from alpha to beta, they allow ChatGPT to access the internet and to use 70+ third-party plugins,” OpenAI said in a tweet.
The new update is available only for the ChatGPT Plus users for now and is somewhat of a game-changer as the platform will now have access to the vast pool of information available on the internet. The users will be able to extract the exact information on any topic and the artificial intelligence platform will deliver much better results to specific prompts.
The update stands to raise apprehensions around the data security concerns of the users. Across the globe, regulatory bodies are mulling over a policy action to protect citizens from the misuse of artificial intelligence and some experts have even warned about the consequences of the rapid development in the sector.
The development came as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OpenAI Sam Altman will be appearing before a Senate panel discussing the regulation of new artificial intelligence tools.
“Long term, we will need our government and governments around the world to act and to put regulations in place and standards that make sure that we get as much of the good as possible from these technologies and minimize the downsides,” Mr. Altman said in a recent interview on CNBC.
Along with the much-anticipated updates, these new capabilities of ChatGPT Plus subscription offer faster response times, priority access to new features, and uninterrupted service even during peak hours. The premium users are also provided the option to choose between GPT-3.5 and GPT-4. Moreover, the integration of third-party browser plugins, including platforms like Slack, is expected to enhance productivity through AI-powered assistance.
The arriving updates only fuel the AI race that is gaining momentum. Google’s announcement to bring improvements to Bard at I/O 2023 has OpenAI actively making various enhancements to its large language model. Furthermore, a recent report suggests that OpenAI is working on a new open-source AI model, showcasing its commitment to promoting collaboration and accessibility in the AI community. The upgrades being made in the field of AI empower the language model to provide precise and up-to-date information, benefiting subscribers of ChatGPT Plus and advancing the progress of AI-powered conversational agents.
